Wilder Bluff

The Shawnee Parks and Recreation Department is adding the new Wilder Bluff park for our residents and community to enjoy at 55th and Belmont Drive. For everyone's safety, we please ask that you stay clear of Wilder Bluff Park as it is under construction over the next several months. We are excited for the park to open to the public in the Spring of 2021!

What's Happening Now?
  • Crews are placing playground equipment and installing limestone around the bases of some of those features.
  • Rain garden installation and other irrigation measures are underway.
  • Concrete is being poured on sections of the splash pad and areas around the shelter.
  • Plumbing fixtures and lighting are being installed in the restrooms.
  • All curbs are in except for the entrance, which will be finished towards the end of the project.
  • Crews continue to form and pour trails throughout Wilder Bluff Park.
What's Next?

  • Crews will start seeding and placing mulch.
  • Ongoing work with splash pad, park shelter and trails.
  • Ongoing work with utility installation is underway.
Background
The Shawnee Parks and Recreation Department is adding a new park for our residents and community to enjoy at 55th and Belmont Drive. At the February 10 City Council meeting, the Governing Body voted to name the new park Wilder Bluff Park.

We held two public meetings and, with that feedback, finalized the designs for the park. The City is partnering with Centric and Confluence to develop Wilder Bluff Park.

It is set to open in Spring 2021.
