Trips and Tours

Come explore with Shawnee Parks & Recreation and Tri-City Trips! All trips depart from and return to the Shawnee Civic Centre, 13817 Johnson Drive. Each trip has its own individual registration and cancellation deadline. All trips must meet the minimum enrollment by the registration deadline, although many fill up prior to this date. If space remains, additional registrations may be taken until the trip is full. Cancellations will be accommodated as available. Many trips have deposits and deadlines that cannot be refunded. In the event that you need to cancel, we will make every attempt to issue any refunds that may still be available. Call (913) 631-5200 for more information or to register!

Wonderful World of Disney (Friday, March 13)
Head to Marceline, MO, the hometown of Disney, where Walt found the magic. We’ll visit the Disney museum, Disney farmhouse and have a delicious, home-cooked lunch at the local Methodist church. Step on guide takes us around town and regales us with Disney tales. Registration opens to travel show attendees on February 7 and to the public on February 10.

Fiddler on the Roof (Thursday, March 19)
Raise your cup to joy, to love, to life during the showing of “Fiddler on the Roof” at Kauffman Center. We’ll enjoy dinner in the Power & Light District (on your own), then we’ll head to show for a night filled this theatrical masterpiece.

Tax Day at Golden Eagle (Wednesday, April 15)
We’re heading to Horton! Celebrate the end of tax season with a trip to Golden Eagle Casino! Remember your government issued ID! Registration opens to travel show attendees on February 7 and to the public on February 10.

Return to Life in the Past Lane (Monday, April 27)
Have you ever wanted to go back in time and visit the past? Well now you can! Two amazing museums have teamed up to give visitors an experience in two pivotal time periods in American history, the 1860's and 1920's. Guests will be able to experience a morning in Shawnee in 1929 and an afternoon in Olathe in 1865-- along with a tasty lunch! See a truck farm and it's supporting town at Shawnee Town 1929 and experience an authentic stagecoach ride at Mahaffie Stagecoach Stop and Farm. Lunch will be provided at Shawnee Town. Both sites are fully accessible, but some walking is expected. This trip will begin and return at Shawnee Town 1929.

Joslyn Adventure (Wednesday, May 6)
The Joslyn Castle is a mansion built in the Scottish Baronial style in 1903 and home to George and Sarah Joslyn. The mansion is available for tours and is a historical place in Omaha. We’ll visit the castle first, with a trip to the Joslyn Art Museum next for a yummy lunch and docent led tour of the museum's permanent exhibits. Last stop of the day is Lauritzen Gardens, where we will take a tram tour through their 100 acre gardens. Registration opens to travel show attendees on February 7 and to the public on February 10.

Warm Springs Ranch (Tuesday, May 19)
The smell of fresh lavender fills the air at Lookout Farm. We’ll enjoy a tour and a lavender infused treat before heading to Les-Bourgeois for lunch. Relax and enjoy the view as you sip a glass of wine. After lunch we’ll head to Warm Springs Ranch to meet and greet with the beautiful Budweiser Clydesdales. Registration opens to travel show attendees on February 7 and to the public on February 10.

Miami County Wine Trail (Wednesday, June 11)
We’re hopping on the trolley and heading down the wine trail! We’ll bus down to Paola, KS where we’ll board the trolley and visit Nighthawk Winery, Somerset Ridge Winery and Louisburg Cider Mill. We’ll enjoy tastings at all three and lunch at Somerset Ridge. Buckle in for a sweet ride through these beautiful wineries! Registration opens to travel show attendees on February 7 and to the public on February 10.

Grease Lightning (Wednesday, June 24)
Forty two years ago, we got chills from GREASE LIGHTENING! Great Plains Theatre is serving up excitement with this hair-greasing, hydromatic, and hopelessly devoted show Grease. We'll visit Mr. K's Farmhouse for a home cooked, delicious lunch first, then onto the show. Afterwards, we'll swing by Russell Stover's to pick up some yummy treats! Don't hesitate for this greatness and remember, you're the one that we want! Registration opens to travel show attendees on February 7 and to the public on February 10.

Sac & Fox Casino (Tuesday, July 7)
Join us as we journey down to Powhattan, Kansas to try our luck at Sac & Fox Casino where they feature both slots (over 600 machines) and gaming tables. We will enjoy 4 hours of gaming with $ 15 in free slot play. Registration opens to travel show attendees on February 7 and to the public on February 10.
