NotifyJoCo

NotifyJoCo is an emergency notification system used to contact individuals who live or work in Johnson County. This FREE public notification system will communicate emergency information to you through phone, text and email. Notify JoCo relies on E911 phone numbers and personalized information registered by you or your family to reach you during emergencies.

Participating local governments and utility providers can notify you about issues affecting locations you identify. Emergency notifications will be sent in cases that need your immediate response, such as tornado warnings, evacuation notices, and public health alerts.

Go to NotifyJoCo.org or call (913) 826-5555 to register your personal contact preferences. You will be asked to:

  • Provide your contact information
  • Identify multiple locations you care about such as your home, work, or your child’s school
  • Choose the type of messages you want to receive

All information you provide will be kept confidential and only used to contact you about emergencies and topics for which you express interest.

When there is an event authorized county and city officials will identify the affected areas and transmit a message through your preferred contact method.

NOAA Radio

NOAA Weather RadioOutdoor warning sirens are not designed to alert people who are indoors when severe weather approaches. All-hazards radios save lives by alerting people indoors with a special alarm tone that will sound an alert and give immediate information in a life-threatening situation.

  • These radios provide constant, useful and up-to-date weather information.
  • They can also alert people to other types of emergencies such as chemical spills and biological hazards.
  • They allow you to program your radio to sound warnings for specific counties.
  • The hearing and visually impaired can connect weather radios to other attention-getting devices such as strobe lights, pagers, bed-shakers, personal computers and text printers.
  • Visit the NOAA weather radio site to find the programming codes for your specific area.
