What is the Shawnee Citizens’ Police Academy?
The Citizens’ Police Academy is an opportunity for members of our community to see and experience the role of the law enforcement officer at a deeper level. Participants in the academy will meet and interact with officers and see how the members of the Shawnee Police Department work to maintain a safe community for all who live in, work in, or visit Shawnee.
Academy Dates and Location
The Fall 2024 Citizens’ Police Academy (CPA) will consists of 12 weekly sessions, meeting on Thursday evenings from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. We currently offer our Academy in the spring and in the fall of every year. Exact dates are provided at the link on this page to the online application form. The CPA is held at the Shawnee Police Department at 5850 Renner Road on most dates.

Who Can Apply?
Persons 18 years of age or older who live or work in the City of Shawnee, Kansas, and have no criminal record may apply.
How Do I Apply?
Enrollment opens several weeks preceding the intended CPA class. During this time, applications will be available and accepted on-line. Incomplete or inaccurate applications will not be considered. Class size is limited to 25 participants.
