Administration

The Administration Division leads the Police Department with Rob Moser serving as Chief of Police and Sam Larson serving as Deputy Police Chief. These positions are assisted by the Assistant to the Police Chief. The Division staffs two other professionals, the Research and Analysis Manager and the Crime Analyst.

Professional Development Bureau
The Professional Development Unit is lead by a Captain. This unit includes the Crime Analyst and Training Unit.

The Professional Development Captain is responsible for continuous policy improvement by auditing the effectiveness of existing practices. Researches and advises on legal updates as changes in case law and legislation evolve. Oversees the CALEA Accreditation process. Other duties as assigned by the Chief and Deputy Chief of Police.

The Professional Development Captain oversees the Crime Analyst and Training Unit, which is comprised of a Training Sergeant and Training Officer. 


Crime Analyst
Responsible for identifying crime trends and patterns to make forecasts and predictions on emerging crime series. Develops the data needed to effectively allocate officers to areas for the purpose of crime reduction and traffic safety.
Training Unit
The Sergeant directs the training of each officer in the department by ensuring the completion of necessary state required training each year. The Training Sergeant also administers the field training program for new officers.

The Training Officer is posted at the Johnson County Regional Police Academy to teach and oversee recruit officers during their initial training.
