Programs and Activities

Shawnee Parks & Recreation is committed to the health and safety of our community, including our participants and staff. Please be aware of some additional procedures we are taking to keep everyone safe while participating in our in-person programs.

  • Participants shall remain in their vehicle until their class time.
  • All participants and staff can anticipate a quick health check prior to entering the building. Please stay home if you are feeling ill, we will gladly issue you a program credit.
  • Hand sanitizer is available in the building and in each classroom. We recommend frequent hand washing and/or use of hand sanitizer. Please sanitize hands as you enter the building.
  • Participants and staff are required to wear face masks in the building and during programs and activities. Participants may remove their masks during period of high intensity exercise while continuing to practice a minimum of six feet social distance between one another. The mask must be replaced once the activity is completed and they resume moving about the facility.
  • Class sizes will be limited to allow for social distancing.
  • Only the enrolled participant will enter the building. Youth program participants will complete a health check at the door. Parents or guardians may then walk them to class but are asked to leave the building after checking their child in for class. They may then return at the end of class to pick their child up.
  • Increased sanitation is being conducted throughout the building, including frequent touch points such as door knobs and railings.
  • Hand sanitizer and disinfecting supplies are available in each room for any additional cleaning.
  • Instructors and staff are verifying the sanitation of equipment prior to and following each use.
  • Please keep six feet between yourself and any others who do not reside in your household.

All available classes are updated and open for registration on our website or over the phone at (913) 631-5200.

The Shawnee Civic Centre and Shawnee Town Hall are both accepting facility rentals. Additional cleaning and sanitation procedures are in place and room capacities have been adjusted to accommodate social distancing. All guests must wear face masks while inside the facilities and on the grounds.
