Shawnee Shine Up Month

Shawnee Shine Up Month
Posted on 05/01/2018
May is Shawnee Shine Up month! Help keep Shawnee a beautiful place to live, work and grow!

Each May, citizens are encouraged to spruce up outdoors.  This could include anything from planting flowers and trees to landscaping or even clean-up projects where people volunteer to pick up areas that need some extra attention. If you think your neighborhood could use a sprucing or cleaning, gather a group to tackle the project!  Then sit back and enjoy the sights for the rest of the summer.

Just be sure to let us know about it.  Better yet, take a picture and we’ll post it on Facebook!  Every group that participates (and notifies the Volunteer Coordinator) will get a Certificate of Appreciation and be recognized by Mayor Michelle Distler at a City Council meeting.

For ideas, supplies, volunteer help, or possible funding opportunities contact the City’s Volunteer Coordinator, Elizabeth Griffith at (913) 742-6244 or
