Stephanie Meyer was sworn into office as a councilmember on October 28, 2013 to fill a vacancy from Ward III, and elected to her first full term in April 2015.
Stephanie is a fourth generation Kansan and a native of Wichita. She attended Kansas State University, where she earned a dual Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism and Public Relations. She later received her Master’s Degree in Public Administration from the University of Kansas. Stephanie currently serves as a Project Development Manager for McCownGordon Construction, and has previously worked as the Director of External Affairs for the Kansas Bioscience Authority, Press Secretary for former Secretary of State Ron Thornburgh and Legislative Assistant to Kansas Speaker Pro Tem John Ballou.
Stephanie is currently the President of the Shawnee Rotary Club, and sits on the Dwight D. Eisenhower Excellence in Public Service Series Board of Governors. She is a 2014 graduate of Leadership Kansas, 2013 graduate of the Shawnee Tomorrow leadership program, and a Republican Precinct Committeewoman. Stephanie was also selected as an American Council of Young Political Leaders (ACYPL) delegate to Tunisia and Morocco in 2014. In addition, she is actively involved with the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Kansas City, Children’s Center for the Visually Impaired (CCVI) and the Junior League of Kansas City, Missouri..
Councilmember Meyer and her husband, Bryan, a patent and intellectual property attorney, have lived in Shawnee since 2007 and are members of the First United Methodist Church of the Resurrection.
